“The way he raps is supersick.” A teen
THE WAY OF THE IWARRIOR:

TO SERVE AND TO LEAD
At the end of the day all that really matters is how much you have learned and how much you have loved. Throughout my teaching career, people have asked me why I waste my time teaching kids. Why not take the principal’s vows or do something more profitable. I still get messages from former students. Below, are some I got when I joined a popular social network. They explain why I have “wasted” my life teaching kids, and why teaching kids in particular, when all is said and done, is the greatest profession on Earth.
WEST HILL HIGH SCHOOL (1970)
Hi…When I was in 8th grade, like 1969/70, at West Hill High…I think you were my physics teacher. I was one of the kids who hung out with you at lunch and after school. You changed my life, because for most of elementary school I was treated like dirt, but you made me feel like I was really special. You loved my poetry and gave me a really hard assignment once because you said you knew I could handle it. My last name was Dobrofsky then…and I was really sad when you had to leave. But I also knew that you were going to do great things, and felt good that you had been part of my life. You also helped me pass math class because you gave an intensive at the end of the year…that was awesome. I live in the UP of Michigan now, and I still write poetry, do a lot of art, and am married to a forestry professor. We have two amazing adult kids. Thank you.
Hello Mr. boob light. I think you might have been my high school physics teacher in Montréal at WHHS. Just to let you know that you left a lasting impression on my life. Always enjoyed your class. With best wishes.
RIVERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL (1972-76?)
Greetings teacher. Ye were GREEN before folks even knew what GREEN was, other than the color of Kermit the Frog. Your environmental observations, yearning to keep learning, and bringing music into the classroom will never be forgotten.
I also remember a boy scouting excursion to Hidden Bay (in Port Cartier) in winter on snowshoes where we cooked our beans ( a boy scout staple) still in a opened can directly on an open fire Michael Journeaux
Mr. Bubleit this is Peter Murphy a student of yours. I would love to connect with you, let you know that I had a soccer career from 1979-1994 all because of you.
It has been more than 30 years, but I still remember that one teacher that made the difference. Both in the the class room and the time as a scout leader to a bunch of kids in a small town. Thanks
Me too. I did not know what green was. I remember that you taught us the way to sweeten tea more naturally was to use honey instead of refined sugar. This was my very first introduction into alternative and holistic ways of living such as vegetarianism.
I remember also the Film Club which made available in Port Cartier current movies shown at major theaters. This was held in the RHS auditorium. I remember helping Gunter Bubleit set up the chairs.
You were doing something good by introducing people to meditation.
QUEBEC HIGH SCHOOL (1976-88)
“You gave me hope back then in 82-83-you were the most integral teacher of all my teens . . . you are so part of my strong foundation in being a human ‘being’. – you can’t begin to imagine how much you ment to me then. You were the teacher I trusted to be true and just.
QHS. You were my high school biology teacher at QHS I still remember the day you made us all hum the same tone for 20 minutes to experience how sound could affect us!!! And once you brought your dog Gandolf to class. You were an awesome teacher.
Hi. Mr. Bubleit! You taught me so much more than biology at QHS. Your knack & sense of humour for questioning authority and love of philosophy has inspired me and I’ve passed that onto my daughters. Your ripple effect gets only stronger with each generation. You’ve made such a huge difference you’ll never know its full extent! All the best my teacher for 2018! QHS 1980
Hi Gunter. Awesome. Still think of them story telling episodes you’d do to us like allll classs lol especially the time @ QHS when Debbie (RIP) and Matthew Santiago and myself cried in class and no one knew what was happening. You transcend moments through words my magical teacher.
Alright, this is a special share of a most inspiring person in my life. By the magic of FB found my 9th grade biology teacher who I absolutely adored for all he taught me , all he provoked within me as a young student who actually should have become a doctor or of the sorts. Gunter Bubleit sparked that light inside of me , that comes from the minds of such imaginative and compelling human beings. Much metta professor..but you always were more like a friend !
HILLSIDE PUBLIC SCHOOL
I remember you very clearly sir. You have changed my life and the way i look at music. I was a noisy kid in your class who didn’t care. Now wherever I go I tell your story. Like Tupac Shakur would say “you are the rose that grew from the concrete”. Its because of you I learned the true meaning of hip-hop. The love you have for art was passed on to me and it was growing into a dream or an ambition. Your life experiences have educated me. You aren’t a teacher…you are a father figure in my life. I just wanted to let you know how you saved my life and inspired me. No other teacher has cried for me. You see the inner potential in people. You are a great man sir.
I just wanted to thank you for always supporting me as a student I recall you doing a lot of outreach work with me that till this day says a lot about how great of a person you really are. These things don’t go unnoticed, keep being great. I am looking forward to following some of your work. I also remember Hip Hop High. JF 2004
Hey Mr B! I’m not sure if you remember me but I was a student of yours at Hillside. . . . I was just thinking about all the years I’ve been in school when your class came into my head. Hope you dont think its weird that I added you as a friend. You were by far my favourite teacher at hillside, and its because of teachers like you that I’ve decided to pursue my own career in teaching!
